I am working on the Cross Strait Dialogue, which will take place on November 2, 2007. To follow this China-Taiwan Dialogue is the China-Japan Dialogue. Now I am working on the flyers and I have started to invite people.
I went to see Dalai Lama at Capitol Hill last Wednesday. When he received the award in the Rotunda, he made a speech in English. He talked about the US friendship and support to democracy and human rights. At the same time, he urged the US to take the lead in the climate change issues and other human rights issues. Later on, he came to the west lawn to meet the people. He made another speech in Tibetan to the public and the Tibetan people there. It was very touching; a lot of overseas Tibetans cried when they saw their leader and also the honor given to him.

Dalai Lama at Washington, DC
China was dismayed at US award to Dalai Lama. On Wednesday 17 October, US congress presented the highest honor for civilians, the Congressional Gold Medal, to Dalai Lama. President Bush met Dalai Lama, but the talk is kept confidential lest to anger China more. Chinese government protested against this award and this move by the US. China thinks that the US is interfering Chinese internal affairs and this meeting damages the Sino-US relations.
